Quick,quick!

We have at least a week of backlogg work to do and not a single free week to do it! Things have to work twice as fast as usual so the private/social life (what social life?!) went inevitably onto a backburner.

A frind of mine (hello Ania!) sent me a brilliant audiobook for children who make their tired parent's life that tad bit more difficult and I can definitely relate to that - though except a demanding toddler I have a buch of demanding clients with toddler's mentalities...

We will try tonight to get to bed earlier than 4 am, promise!

Remedy

A little bit tired and overworked these days I seem to be having problems recently with neatly falling asleep, which never have been a problem before. This British invention (see picture) seems to help though. And having Simon as my own human hot water bottle helps as well, unless he is working until 4 am in the other room! Moomin cup is not compulsory, it just seems to contain a right amount of that calming drink.

P.S. Have you heard Bjork in the Moomins film?

P.S. On some other note about other (little) people who are not able to fall asleep...

One click a day helps a doggy somewhere away!

http://www.pustamiska.pl/index-2.php

Please click on the empty bowl ONCE A DAY to help the doggies receive some money for their food in Krakow Dog Home.
(from Polish to English > the click = kliknij, please click the red box at the lower right corner of the page once a day to create revenue for the Dog's Home from the adds on this website).

I cannot have a dog at the moment so I am helping some animals in this way. You can set it up as your starting page as well or add a banner on your website/blog or simply pay some money into their account.
First time I am considering the adds actually USEFUL.

Thank you!

Russian adventures

In today's The Times I came accross a link to an unique collection of images of Moscow that were taken in 1909. As Simon (and his inseparable iPad) was sitting accross the table we had a look immediately at the Flickr account mentioned in the article.

What an interesting collection it is - Simon said that the city did not change that much throughout the century and I was amazed at the vastness of the landscape in comparison with such a small number of inhabitants just like I was amazed at this fact during my one day trip to Russian capital several years ago - prospects were 4 cars wide (one way) but there was only 4 cars in the whole of the prospect!

However back on the home turf, The Times also had an article about an imminent failure of the new tram system in Edinburgh. It looks like £600 milion were spent but trams are still not with us and the whole project is in jeopardy as the company that was building the trams wants even MORE money for completing ony HALF of the line! They are also going to dig up Princes Street again because the whole part of the tramline laid there is faulty. And one would have thought that such things happen only in Russia... or Poland.

I have managed to find this photo on Flickr posted by allybeag that would make you weep - it shows Edinburgh trams in 1956 climbing the Mound. Why did they have to rip the tramline out? Can you imagine Krakow without them?

Food!

We have recently been introduced to the M&S Food Hall and since then we try to divert from shopping in a nearby Sainsbury's and Tesco which shelves layouts we know by heart now. As 'the other' Kate stated once 'nothing tastes as skinny feels', I am officially going on a diet trying to resist British invention of ready meals. Keep your fingers crossed for my progress of shedding some fat off my butt to be able to fit in my Simple's trousers again, trousers which I must add, used to be LOOSE around my waist before I moved to Scotland.

Actually I hope that my weight gain is connected not so much with a change in geographical location as my change in age (I remember my friend Agata telling me that past the age of 30 one starts to gain weight in strange places like upper arms and ones chest seems to broaden as well!) and prohibition of any exercise after my eye surgery. So I am doing things gently but I must say a daily fast walk around Meadows (I cannot run) is going to bring desired results as I am sweating like a pig just before a heart attack.

So hi to my fellow joggers - Malgosia in Netherlands and Liska in Haddington! Tomorrow I am walking down for a lecture at SNPG in my Camper heels which equals quite an exercise as they are made of rubber and weight a ton. I will have to leave at least 45 minutes earlier than is normally required!

Meanwhile some images of food - cupcakes in St Andrews day before the Royal Wedding and Simon at Wagamama in Glasgow.
